Dear BCSS Family,

I hope this message finds you and your loved ones refreshed and rejuvenated after a restful Winter Break. As we welcome students and staff back to our schools, I want to take a moment to reflect on the meaningful progress we made together over the past year and to share my excitement for what lies ahead.

Thanks to the partnership of our Board of Education, staff, families, and community, this past year was marked by important accomplishments that strengthen our school system and position us well for the future. Together, we revised our Board Norms, developed clear Governance Beliefs, and established Policy BAB: School Board Governance. These critical steps reinforce strong, transparent, and student-centered leadership. We also successfully developed the FY26 budget, which allowed for a millage rollback while continuing to invest responsibly in our schools.

Supporting and retaining our outstanding employees remained a top priority. We were proud to provide a retention supplement for all staff and School Resource Officers and to commission a comprehensive salary study that will guide long-term compensation planning. These efforts reflect our deep appreciation for the people who serve our students every day and our commitment to being a competitive and supportive employer.

On the instructional side, we established short-term achievement goals to sharpen our focus on student success and continued to support a strategic planning process that actively includes voices from across our entire community. As we move forward, we are excited to finalize this strategic plan which will clearly outline our shared priorities and serve as a roadmap for the years ahead.

As we begin this new semester, I am energized by the momentum we have built and optimistic about what we will accomplish together. Thank you for your continued trust, engagement, and partnership. We look forward to a strong start to the year and to working alongside you as we continue to move our school system forward.
